Terms of booking
Last updated 25 September 2026
1. Who we are
mvfare.com is operated by mvfare, in the Maldives. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean mvfare, and “you” means the person making the booking and the travellers named on it.
2. We act as the airline's agent
We sell flights on behalf of airlines. When your ticket is issued, your contract of carriage is with the airline, and the airline's conditions of carriage and the fare rules of your ticket apply to your journey, including baggage, check-in deadlines, changes, cancellations and refunds. The airline is responsible for operating your flight. We're responsible for handling your booking and payment carefully and for giving you accurate information.
For international flights we only sell airlines that have appointed us and that are listed on our Maldives Civil Aviation Authority certificate.
3. How booking works
- International flights: you enter the traveller details, confirm the dangerous goods restrictions and pay. Your booking is confirmed only when the airline issues the tickets. We then email your airline reference and e-ticket numbers. If the airline can't issue the ticket, we refund you in full.
- Domestic flights: you send a booking request. We check seats with the airline and, if they're available, email you a payment link with a deadline. Your booking is confirmed when you've paid and the ticket is issued. If you don't pay by the deadline, the request lapses at no cost.
- You must be 18 or over to book, and you confirm you have the permission of everyone you book for.
4. Prices and currency
- All prices include the airfare, airline taxes and charges, government charges and our service fee. There are no extra card or booking fees at checkout.
- You can pay in Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR) or US dollars (USD). Where we convert between them, we use the Maldives Monetary Authority reference rate shown with the price, never a higher rate. The currency and amount you see on the payment page are what you pay.
- Airline prices change until tickets are issued. If a price changes before you pay, we show you the new price and you choose whether to continue.
- Your bank may charge its own fees for card payments in a foreign currency.
5. Payment
Card payments are processed on the secure page of our bank. We never see or store your full card number. If a payment succeeds but we can't complete your booking, we refund the full amount to the card you used.
6. Your details and travel documents
- Names must match each traveller's passport or ID card exactly. Airlines may charge for name corrections or refuse them.
- You're responsible for holding a valid passport, any visas, health documents and the IMUGA traveller declaration needed for your trip. We show the Maldives entry rules and check passport validity when you book, but we can't give legal advice on immigration. Airlines can refuse boarding if documents aren't in order.
- Give us an email address and mobile number you check, so we and the airline can tell you about schedule changes.
7. Dangerous goods
Before you book, you confirm that you've read the restrictions on dangerous goods in baggage. We keep a record of that confirmation.
8. Changes, cancellations and refunds
What you can change or refund depends on the fare rules shown before you book. Our changes and refunds policy explains how to ask and what fees apply. If the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight, we'll contact you and help you with the options the airline offers.
9. Our responsibility
We're responsible for the services we provide as a booking agent. We aren't responsible for how the airline performs the flight, including delays, cancellations, baggage or injury; the airline is responsible for those under its conditions of carriage and international conventions. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (Law 12/2020) or any other law that can't be excluded.
Air carrier liability: if your journey involves travel between countries, the Montreal Convention 1999 (or the older Warsaw Convention) may apply and may limit the airline's liability for death or personal injury, for delay and for loss of or damage to baggage. Under the Montreal Convention, as revised from 28 December 2024, the airline is liable up to 151,880 SDR for death or injury regardless of fault (and above that unless it proves it wasn't negligent), up to 6,303 SDR for delay and up to 1,519 SDR for baggage. You may be able to get more baggage protection by declaring a higher value at check-in and paying any fee the airline charges. The airline's conditions of carriage and fare rules apply to your trip. mvfare acts only as a booking agent.
10. Electronic records
By ticking the boxes and paying online, you agree to these terms electronically. Your booking confirmation, receipts and e-tickets are sent by email and are valid electronic records under the Electronic Transactions Act (Law 2/2022).
11. Complaints and law
If something goes wrong, please tell us first through our complaints process. These terms are governed by the laws of the Maldives, and the courts of the Maldives have jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version you accepted when you booked applies to that booking.
